If you are looking to lighten up your impact on the planet, turn away from plastic and battery-operated toys and choose cloth or wooden ones instead. There are many more such toys out there than you might think, and they are not necessarily that expensive.

One good place to start at is Green Party Goods. Although they are a company specializing in party goods, they also have a nice selection of wooden, cloth and cardboard toys and games. They carry European and USA made toys.

Another good place when shopping for toys is FatBrainToys. They offer many organic and green toys for all ages, all budgets and many interests, and allow you to search by material (wood, bamboo, organic cotton, solar powered, etc).

If you really like plastic toys because of their light weight and sturdiness, then go to Green Toys. Their toys are made of recycled plastic milk jugs and their packaging is 100% recyclable. A bit pricey, we think, but worth it. Amazon and many other on line stores carry them.
