Did You Know?

The best way to reduce climate pollution and global warming is to stop deforestation.

According to the New York Times, deforestation causes nearly 20 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of the world's entire transport sector. Indonesia and Brazil are, respectively, the world's third- and fourth-largest emitting nations. In Brazil, deforestation is responsible for 70 percent of emissions.

Rocket Fuel In Our Drinking Water E-mail
Thursday, 16 April 2009 14:18

There is a significant amount of rocket-fuel, or more specifically perchlorate, in Americans’ drinking water, especially in South Western States such as California, Nevada, and Colorado.

It is also in our lettuces (shipped all over the country), in our milk, and in our fertilizer. The EPA (a government agency) doesn’t think clean-up is necessary, but independent environmental groups such as EWG beg to differ:  according to them, the level of perchlorate in our drinking water should be one-tenth the level authorized by the government. The current levels of perchlorate are believed to interfere with thyroid function and pose developmental health risks.
